Dr. Xin Chen's practice focuses on patent law. She has a strong technical background and extensive experience in patent prosecution, reexamination, counseling, invalidation and litigation, especially in patent prosecution and invalidation in the technical fields of software, artificial intelligence, communication, semiconductor and optics.

Dr. Xin Chen has helped a good number of worldwide renowned companies obtain patents in China and provided them with valuable advice for patent protection strategies in China. As a team leader, Dr. Xin Chen helped manage the patent portfolio in China for a leading smart phone company. She has also helped a number of Chinese companies obtain patents in Europe, U.S. and other countries.

Dr. Xin Chen also has rich experience in patent invalidation proceedings and administrative litigations before the Patent Reexamination Board and the courts, involving a variety of technical fields including wireless communication, video codec, touchscreen, biometric recognition, software, depth camera, optical lens, LED, etc. She has obtained many favorable results for a number of renowned companies. One of the cases she handled was listed as one of the Top 10 Reexamination & Invalidation cases selected by the Patent Reexamination Board.

Represented a well-known JP company as the patentee in 2 SEP patent invalidation proceedings in 2022 and won both cases.

Represented a well-known JP company as the patentee in 9 SEP patent invalidation proceedings in 2021 and won 8 cases.

Represented a well-known EP communication company as the patentee in 12 SEP patent invalidation proceedings in 2021 and won all the 12 cases.

Represented a well-known U.S. smartphone company as the requester or patentee in 5 patent invalidation proceedings in 2018-2019 and won all the cases.

Represented a well-known Chinese IT company as the requester in a patent invalidation proceeding and the subsequent administrative litigation in 2015-2016 and finally had all the claims invalidated. Dr. Chen also represented this IT company as the patentee in a patent invalidation proceeding and maintained all the claims involved in the related infringement litigation valid.

Represented a well-known touch-screen manufacturer as the requester in a patent invalidation proceeding and the subsequent administrative litigation in 2013-2014, and finally had all the claims invalidated. This case was listed as one of the Top 10 Reexamination & Invalidation cases selected by the Patent Reexamination Board in 2014.
